Hi,

Today I received complete set of 20 pictures of space program pictures from 1969. What I have understood these boxes have been send to Omega stores in that time, not sure though. The set came with two different hats/caps. I did some research but couldn't find any information. They seem to be old and maybe related to that time. Have anyone ever seen these before and could tell me little bit of these?

I think it was good haul since the box was almost ended up to bin.

The first page is in Finnish if somebody wonders. The watch is my 1969 145.022.69 Straight writing

I already saw some of them in English, German , Japanese and French. I never saw them accompanied by hats. I also wonder why they would put a hat labeled Geneve to a photo box related to the Speedmaster.

Hundreds of these large cardboard boxes with Apollo 11 photos were produced and the astronaut autographs are autopen signatures, just as NASA distributed on their countless NASA lithographs of official Apollo crew photos.
Last time I visited the Omega Archives, they still had at least a dozen of these boxes... I rather see their other goodies, such as early 1967 Omega brochures with Ed White artwork on the cover or their 1994 Moon Watch "" 25 years Apollo 11 "" book which came with each Speedmaster bought that year.

I see that Charlie Duke is to appear in KY on Saturday. Questions:

Does he charge for autographs?
Pictures?
Will he sign the Omega books that came with my new moonwatches?
Is he a friendly guy?

Is it worth a 600 mile drive late on Friday night to see him?

US Air Force Brig General Charles "Charlie" Duke is a friendly guy... youngest Apollo Moonwalker and signs autographs.
He had a twin brother and took his wife & kids to the launchpad !

I saw Charlie Duke do a talk here in Brisbane, Australia a few years back.
Highly recommended.
For that event you had to purchase "premium" tickets to shake his hand and get something signed. Not something I was able to do at that time.
I'd advise keeping an eye on his social media. You might be able to 'accidentally' bump into him at a local tourist hotspot earlier in the day, as he enjoys his touring. 😎 Keep those Omega books with you at all times! 😉

Where the event is IS a tourist hotspot. Or tourist trap. Called the "Creation Museum", or "Ark Encounter". It's $100 for the ticket to meet him. Only 90 miles from me but I won't be there.

Depends. There aren't many people alive who have walked on the moon. It's an opportunity to see and hear someone who has, which should make it somewhat surreal.

If you hope for a one on one encounter or a personal greeting, it could happen but is unlikely. You're going as part as a paying participant to a public event. I know a person here on the forum who went to a different event a few years ago and saw Duke walking in a hotel lobby completely alone, with no one recognizing him. My friend watched as all these people unknowingly walked by a moonwalk. So it's not impossible, but it is unlikely.

Duke is a good signer, which has the effect of making his autograph inexpensive and easy to come by. If your goal is to cash in on his signature, it's not worth it. But if your goal is to meet face to face for 15 seconds and look in the eye of a person who walked on the moon, then it's priceless. You'll be one of the thousands of forgettable fans to him. But it should be a memorable experience for you.

Seeing a moonwalker next to a giant Ark might not be inspiring, though.

Sadly, I was unable to adjust my schedule.

I thought it would be neat if he signed the Omega book given (haha) with the moon watch. I would also like to meet an Apollo astronaut.

I will look for future events.

And the autograph is mainly to have something to show when I talk to someone about my watch... haha
