Hi everyone,
Im pretty new here. Today i will present you my omega watch that i builded.

So somehow got Calibre 1869, but the problem was how to get the case. This caliber is from watch known as
THE SPEEDMASTER "DARK SIDE OF THE MOON" APOLLO 8, which has ceramic case and you cannot buy second hand case for this model.

Then i got idea to put this movement in MoonWatch because it fits.
So for the base case i used 145.022 case & bracelet provided by one of your members @https://omegaforums.net/members/ajwala.53058/ big thanks to him!.
So then my watchsmith started to put things together :

But the thing was the ordinary moonwatch dial was to oridinary dial for me, so i got myself a Apollo 11 35th anniversary panda dial
So here it is my first omega my omega Apollo 8 to 11 panda, Stay calm and enjoy the watch 😉

BTW: Im looking for Sapphire-glass Caseback so that i can always look on the moon surface and also looking for omega coin/meddalion that fits in omega big box if anyone is willing to sell , PM me please.

Best regards,
Robert

Talk about a Franken watch, and an interesting first post.

Would like to know more on how you "somehow" found an 1869 movement all on its own.
😕

Those hands really don't go well with that dial, I'd use the silver ones that go with that dial.

You should be able to source a sapphire back, OEM or third party, to at least salvage part of the view of that movement.

Really cool write up and definitely something that I don’t believe has been done before.

I’ll be the first to say that it’s a shame to cover up the skeletonized portion of the movement with a solid faced dial but there seems to be no way to have prevented that. Adding a sapphire case back would restore some of the visual interest you’ve lost by covering up some of those features.

My only curiosity is if there could potentially be a way to modify the panda dial to show some of the top portion of the movement.

The story behind the movement is it was ordered for apollo 8 DSOTM that needed repair at my friends service but the watch was repaired and not needed the movement replacement so my friend had that movement as spare and was wiling to sell it to me.

I got those hands along with the case, maybe in furure if i find the silver ones i will change. Yes i also think it shouldnt be covered so im looking for sapphire bottom I wish if there was skeleton dial id buy it.

If there is a Forum award for most interesting first post... it's yours. Fascinating and something I don't have the skills to accomplish. I agree about acquiring silver hands for the watch you have constructed.

Wouldn't it be nicer if use back the Apollo 8 hands?
And yes, sapphire caseback is a must!

Yellow hands with that dial just don't work as there is nothing to tie it together. You need the polished steel handset to make it pop.

could you tell me how to get 35th anniversary panda dial and hands?

Hands came with case and classic speedy dial, the Apollo 35th anniversary dial actually very similar story as the movement, it was ordered for somenoe with a bit damaged dial, but his dial was somehow fixed and then it didn't need to be changed and spare dial came but it was not used.😀

I thought you were going to put the moon dial from the DSOTM in the Moonwatch case. That would be cool

Yeah that was also one of ideas but the DSOTM is 44.25mm Moonwatch is 42mm so i think the dials dont fit.

I would just leave out the dial and put all yellow hands ... That movement looks great from both sides ... and seems pointless to hide it 👍
