Just picked this up and am sorta excited. The moon watches are just a little out of reach. Needs a correct bracelet but the seller says it runs. We shall see. Pictures won't load from phone. I'll upload shortly. Hopefully

It's from an estate with no history so I should likely have it serviced. It is reported to run well

If you don't know the service history of a vintage watch, why wouldn't you have it serviced? Cars can run without oil...for a while.

Just what that man ^^^ said (his name is Eric the Terrifier by the way).

If you have no valid evidence of a service in the last two or three years you absolutely need to get it done.

Just keeping it going because it "keeps good time" is a bit like poking your dick in a blender, it may be OK for a while, until things go wrong.

Interestingly, I almost bought that one. I have one coming in as well, I went head only and got my hands on a new 1162/173 service bracelet. Luckily I got one with an up to date service. Will post pics when it arrives/ I get back to the States.

What kept you from this one? I am always a bit nervous about these on the bay.

I am looking at bracelets also. I'll probably go with a NATO until I find a suitable one. We have a local guy I used for pocket watch repair that only does high quality wristwatches now and is certified. He is more into Rolex vintage pieces but this should be in his wheelhouse. I'd like to have it restored but that cost seems out of my range for now

Honestly, the other guy accepted my offer first and it being head only allowed me to spread the costs out a bit. I didn't see any red flags on that one, mine just worked out better for my finances.

For those who own a Mk ii what do you think of the bracelet? There are always some on the Bay in various shapes from NOS to fairly worn. I'll eventually get one because that's just me but what do you think are the best options?

I've had my MkII as my daily wear for over a year now and I really love the original bracelet. Smooth, comfortable, slim - it flexes nicely and has a really confident click to the clasp.

I tried it on lots of other straps over that period, but I always went back to the bracelet. Shame to see it go, but I'm sure I'll buy another in the future!

My Speedy came this morning. Here are some pics. I'll be getting it serviced soon and a correct bracelet. Serial number puts it to 1969. 2911 are the first four #s.

I've owned but couldn't keep several higher end omegas. This one may stay. I've been wearing it all day just to get a feel.
    Even with a crappie bracelet i like it a lot! IMG_2699.JPG Image1488676000.509582.jpg

The bracelet is part of the whole funky 70s experience. It might look a bit weird but everything else looks just as odd or even more so. It is comfortable and works.

For me, the mk2 is one watch which only really suits being on the original bracelet.

Get it serviced, might need a new crystal, but the dial looks ok. A good case clean should work wonders.
