Can somebody advise Watchmaker who could restore this watch?
Polish to the original state and put correct hands( for sub-dials )

You can find the hands on eBay if you look. They are there all the time. Find some that are as aged as yours.

 

I am in UK London. last time I send this watch to the guy from ebay he said he would buy it from me for £350 for parts after I refused he offered me £450.

 

A reputable service is going to run just under $800 usd. Prices are getting high for sure. If the hand is the only problem then a buyer is looking at spending the price of the watch plus 750-800 for a watch that can be bought on eBay in good working order for less. It's a tough time for watch restoration!

 

I had a similar issue and STS did a brilliant job. As others have said it is no cheap if it needs a service as well.

A third recommendation for Tanner - I have a MkII and MkIV he restored - both are stunning.

 

Old thread, but my question is, is STS as good as Tanners example above?

Tempted to get mine done but one thing I really dislike is when the lapping leaves a slight curve in the lines(if that makes sense ?) or uneven direction pattern to the lapping.

That last photo is one of my concerns, the left side the lapping lines look more downward compared to the right which looks more diagonal as it should be?

 

Genuinely don't remember when I bought the watch - perhaps March this year? It received a full service from STS prior to my buying it and I believe the work was done then. So, within the last 12 months.

 

Thanks again , appreciate the info. I'm probably a bit OCD and perhaps too risky to go for the refinish, better keep mine as it is I think as thankfully in pretty good shape. Would have been nice to bring the finish back to how it should be though .

Here's a newer example of the work we do. The polished lines after lapping are perfectly flat and .mirror. exactly like the original.
