Very beautiful. Congrats and enjoy.
And is it just me? I don't think I've ever seen a post with over 85 likes on OF - except perhaps when @ConElPueblo posted his two most beautiful treasures....
Thank you! 馃榾

I'm sure there are many thread with more likes than this!

Happy SpeedyTuesday OF!

I don鈥檛 usually post many threads as much as I would like, but I feel this time it would be a good idea to share a Speedmaster that I just received.

Prior to me discovering the watch, I remember a few old threads reading and seeing a blue Speedmaster that was quite rare. A Soleil dial as they say. Fast forward to around early June, I was scrolling around the watch net as you say, and saw this unclear picture of a metallic greyish Speedmaster. As we all do, it is always worth a shot asking the owner if it was for sale, and the owner declined. A couple of days later, we were still just chatting and he asked me if I wanted to make an offer for his piece. So I did, and then come the clearer pictures. So to speak, I jumped at my chance, and the rest was history.

Logistics was a pain, and had a great help with a few OF members that made this possible. A huge shout-out to @Georgieboy58 who was instrumental in helping me landing this Grail of mine. Another testimony to how great this community is. Long story short, took a couple of months, but landed safely on my wrist, and even as I am writing this. The watch came and as expected I was stunned by the condition and the dial. One of the hardest dials to capture in pictures and I might add, pictures do no justice to the dial in person.

Without further ado, here are some pictures of the elusive Omega Speedmaster Grey Blue Metallic dial, and the condition is not too bad, I鈥檇 say.

I thought that the consensus on these was that they were a very small batch of service dials. If that is the case then it seems odd to see one on such a mint piece since presumably it was less likely to need a new dial than a watch which has been knocked about. Perhaps some did come from the factory with these dials?

I'm guessing if the theory is a small batch of service dials, the current watch I think was so beat up and they replaced the dial, bezel, caseback and bracelet in 1969, as this one has the wrong caseback of the 69 instead of 67. We do not know however if it is true, or many some did come from the factory.

Quick update to the thread. One of the hardest watches to decide whether to go with what kind of strap or the bracelet.

Played around with some amazing straps from Veblenist (@Optimizer13) and a few shots of different lighting as well.

In the end though I felt I will be settling with the flat link bracelet.

Amazing watch. Have you tried a light grey suede? I feel a lighter colored band compliments a blue dial very well.

Flat link looks outright gorgeous!

These have such beautiful dials 馃グ

As a strap over bracelet guy I think I鈥檇 have first tried a navy Saffiano strap, but the star of the show is always going to be the dial so you can鈥檛 really go wrong.
