Someone offered me this watch and sent me these photos yesterday. l liked it so much but l am not sure if it is original and also l am curious about how much l should pay for that .Any ideas ,please??!!
It’s an older model Speedmaster DayDate. The movement is based on a Valjoux 7750. Omega hasn’t made these for many years — maybe more than ten? The box it’s in is new and did not come with the watch. It looks real enough to me. Omega made dozens of variations of this watch between the 90s and 00s before they transitioned to updated models, so finding a price for this specific model on EBay may be difficult. Just look for sold prices of Speedmaster DayDate to give you an example. Just be aware that unless you have proof of a service by a qualified watchmaker, this watch will likely need a service because of its age. Figure that into the price — an Omega service is in the range of $750.
Do you have a serial number? Should either be etched on the back of a lug or on the movement depending on how old the watch is. That would help identify the date of manufacture.
Nope - no serial number on the movements in these, as they were not serialized movements. On these the serial number is on the outside of the case back.
Isn’t that a Japanese only dial? I forget but something about that dial relief denoted a limited market.
Usually the Extranet will indicate "Japon" if it is, and this one does not. It's a reference 31233300. Another thread with one here: https://omegaforums.net/threads/my-new-omega-speedmaster-rose-gold.45162/
Thanks. There is something about that dial that’s sets it apart. I just can’t quite place it right now.
