Afternoon lads, Got a quick question for the Speedmaster lovers. What do you think of the Speedmaster Date? Been doing some research into the Speedy range, and has opened up a worm hole! :O I read many times on the forum, the "Reduced" isn't the one to go really go for, and to save for either to Date or Pro, with Pro being the most expensive. Just need a little advice really on what you think of the "Date" range... Would be so grateful guys, thanks in advanced! Everyone have a great weekend. Dan
Personally - and of course there is no right answer on personal taste - the only Speedmaster with a date function I like is the new co-axial moonphase speedy. Think it looks fantastic.
Here's my Co-Axial Moonwatch Chronograph with a 44.25mm case. Date window at 6 o'clock. My preference is for a date window on all my watches. FYI- I have a 7 3/4" wrist. Mine is not a small watch.
Yes, I am a lover of speed. Due to owning too many watches and switching watches at least twice a day and at time three times a day, I find the date function to be a huge headache. And when the watches with dates do not have a quick set for the date it is a HUGE pain (my modern Ploprof and Skyfall). So consider this when looking at a date feature. Also, I will not buy another date watch. Ever.
I say why not? I know the Pro is the classic, but it drives me nuts not having a date on my watch, so I've been looking at the Speedy Day Date. Ultimately, it's still a tool to me, where I prefer function over collectibility.
Just do a Google image search on "omega speedmaster date" and a whole world of possibilities opens up. I quite like the barking insanity of this (but not enough to own one - I have a reputation to maintain) I believe the reference is 3210.52
I agree and every time I see one pop up for sale at $1,400 or so I have to some how talk myself out of buying it
Me too. Maybe it's a generation thing, but I don't grab my iPhone to check the time/date. My first instinct is to check my wristwatch. I can leave my phone home and not even miss it. Huh - old folks. Whatcha gonna do?
I always have my phone, but a wristwatch is still useful. Just as they did 100 years ago, wristwatches get time info out of the pocket and onto the more convenient wrist. It's about convenience, and that really hasn't changed.
