Looks good to me, though I think it's a bit earlier than '79 (more likely late 1977 or 1978). So if you're specifically looking for a watch from 1979 this one might not fit the bill; otherwise I'm fairly enthusiastic about it at that price.

I’ve seen a lot of speedys in wieder condition for higher prices. Looks good to me. If it got a service in the last two years,- perfect!

That price is pretty good. Seems to be a very early 1171 bracelet. Not sure if dial is relumed though

    I’d say it’s a 145.022-76 with post Sept 77 production.

Caseback show a 145.022-76 and serial number I’m guessing is 39850000 or a bit later.

Looks good but I’d want a natural light shot to check the lume as well as a dark room test to see if it is not a luminova relume.

If the lume checks out with the bracelet I’d say it’s a fair deal to the buyer.

To me the dial has the characteristic yellow-greenish hue of many mid-'70s dials, and the hands look great. If it is a relume, in my opinion it's a sympathetic one and wouldn't affect the value at the asking price

https://www.ilovemyspeedmaster.com/productiondateprediction/ predicts between July and November '77 (from the visible digits '399')

    You don’t say ;)

True but the speedmaster font change took place in Sept 77 and I know the serial number change over down to less then 20 numbers. ;)

    I maintain a registry for -76 and -74 watches.

The -76 had 2 dials, and I’m trying to confirm stepped -74 dials.

I think it's a very nice watch. I'd buy it myself!

Hmm, a nice watch indeed. Did you ask the seller to provide a picture of the watch set to a particular time? If so, did he provide them?

For this price I would totally go for it! Good condition, nice dial (hope is not a relume) and Backcase!
Are you sure about the seller?
