Here are some photos of my Omega Speedmaster Apollo 15 40th Anniversary Signed Box. I have previously posted photos of the box being signed by the remaining 2 astronauts of Apollo 15, Dave Scott who walked on the moon and Al Worden who flew around the moon. The 3rd signature on the watch box is Gerry Griffin who was the Lead Flight Director of Apollo 15, 12, and 17. HIs team is "Gold Flight". All flight directors choose a color for their team. The box has the anniversary dates on the bottom edge and a Apollo 15 patch on the box. The watch comes with a stainless steel band. I added an Omega Ryder Cup Nato Strap to enhance the red, white, and blue colors of the watch dial. The back of the watch shows the astronauts driving the lunar rover on the moon. Just a beautiful Omega watch.
I like this watch a lot. It doesn't seem to get as much love as other Speedy LE's, and there seem to be a lot of them available from third-party sellers. I'm not sure why that is?
Looking at buying one of these. Found one in good condition for what I think is a fair price ($4K) but no box nor papers. Any advice here? Go for it or better wait for a full set?
The Apollo 15 LE Speedmaster is an extremely nice piece... I would prefer a full set as Apollo 15 was an important mission, first LRV, first art on the Moon etc... Here's a 1971 Kennedy Space Center Apollo 15 banner next to a 90 cm long scale model of Seaking "Helo 66" (recovery Apollo 8, 10, 11, 12 and 13)... boys & their toys! .
Just spotted your post due to new comments. Have to say I love what you've done using the Ryder Cup, certainly works well with this watch.
Beautiful pictures, congratulations. Greeting from 1570/1971. Amazing watch, love it very much. I like that it is very unique and quite rare.
Wow, very nice. Do you have a wrist shot of the watch with the Ryder Cup Nato Strap? I like how you matched the colors together!
