Oh .... I fortunately did it three months ago!

Ditto.
I was anticipating this scenario and the price was much too good to pass up.
I also bought the Silver Snoopy strap and Deployant to go on it, so I'm set.
That is unless the SS 50th is too outstanding to pass up on.

I am not a fan of the Moonwatch, but even harder not a fan of the gold watches.
Except a few dress watches, the gold can ruin pretty much each and every decently looking watch.

Yes, sporty gold watches are hard to pull off. When I saw the release I thought of this:

Can't imagine anybody looking good with it, even if I admire the amount of work and engineering required to build the case.

I believe @BenBagbag is referring to some of the ludicrous prices that people have been asking for original Ultramans - not the ST2.

Wow. Original ultramans fetching almost 100K? Wow. Really? Triple wow?

Absolutely love it. Would absolutely love to own it. However, gold on my wrist...😕😕😕...stainless steel already feels too *bling*... still can’t imagine wearing it (but would love to own it) ... even though I have been fortunate enough to have had the BA from the 60's on my wrist, and could not keep my eyes off it, I still can't see myself pulling it off ... so would thus have to mount it on my ceiling above my bed (naturally just below the ceiling mirror 😗). A little birdie tells me that a nice 2998 would do me better ...

But damn, well done Omega...did I mention that I absolutely love it?

Beautiful and a faithful reissue.. but at £25,600 out of my league unless I sell a child or kidney...

No way! ::facepalm1::

This thread needs more pictures of other more “affordable” Apollo 11 variants 😉

I love this watch as a modern LE with some great new details and extras.
Would/could never wear a yellow gold watch but a white gold version would be pretty cool as well, but I dont think Omega is doing one in WG for this anniversary.

What I would really like is a Speedmaster version in bronze, just like these great watches:

Anyone handy with photoshop?

Will see if they come out with any Steel versions. Not surprised but man I am not a fan of yellow gold. I bet yellow gold is also not a fan of me lol

You'd be a proper windgat 😀

So, my order is in (need to offload some other watches soon I guess 😀). I love it and wearing the prototype right now. The new caliber 3861 looks stunning (beautiful finish) and 50% of the parts are new (and not interchangeable with the caliber 1861/1863). What amazed me perhaps most is the bracelet... if they only would do this one in steel for the regular Moonwatch, that would be so good. The clasp is only 14mm wide, but wears absolutely great.

The ceramic is also very nicely done, the color is beautiful and no strange white particles (which you get with some other ceramic bezels from other brands). The onyx hour markers are thick and have nice facets. Also interesting, the BA145.022-69 had a little flaw concerning the second markers. Since that gold watch had caliber 861 and was faster ticking than the caliber 321, the seconds markers were a bit off. They corrected it with this new gold Apollo XI model. I have both the BA145.022-69 and this new one at home, and I have to say that the new one to me is nicer than the first one. A bit like Godfather II, that one was also better than the first movie ;-) People can disagree of course, for nostalgic reasons or whatever, but I feel that the thought put into this new watch is absolutely showing. Wow!

There goes my need for a Rolex Day-Date, this is the one in gold to have for me.
Huge congrats man!!

I've never been afraid to be in the minority, so here goes.

I think that is one, ugly watch.

Nope but we can guess ... probably #SpeedyTuesday3 ... or 50 years Alaska Project Speedmaster ?
Fascinating times...

ST3 will be the Alaska Project anniversary.

I was hoping to get a 50th anniversary version this year since I just turned 50 last week - I had really high hopes for a "1969-2019" watch. Unfortunately yellow gold and the price don't do it for me. I have a feeling the SS version they ultimately drop will be just another Moonwatch with a higher price tag, and I already have a Gemini IV LE. I'm disappointed to say the least.

Anyone else really hoping that bracelet makes it's way onto the regular Speedmaster in steel? It looks like a 1479 but with modern construction and probably better sizing/fit.

Fantastic looking watch. Really looks amazing. Sadly not in my price range, but I can appreciate it from afar.

Maybe not on this forum so much, but in general people complain about LE Speedmasters, but they've had some really nice releases in recent years and this one is no exception.

Not really I noticed it has a very small girly fiddly clasp by the looks of photo on frattelo. I like a bit of meaty metal to pull on

We definitely live in an exciting period as Speedmaster enthusiasts. As the global community acknowledges and celebrates the 50th anniversary of the Apollo missions, it will be exciting to see what Omega releases. I'm looking forward to seeing the steel version of Apollo 11 this year and 13 next year as well as what they do with the Alaska Project etc.

Stunning watch... but I’d rather own an original one. Also, for this amount of money, I could think of so many more options that appeal to me... so count me out.

Not a fan because it's gold, but I respect the fact they brought back the BA145.022-69 (almost).

It gives me hope the steel version will be awesome and not some overdone flashy piece not at all like the original.
