When you say "stopping function" you mean the chronograph, right?

Is the watch fully wound when this happens, and are you winding it daily?

    Hi Archer,

yes - I wind the watch every day (power enough) and with the "stopping function" I mean the chronograph :)

Typically if the watch is going to stop, it will do so at a point of increased load, so in this case when the central chronograph wheel is in the process of flipping the minute counter. This happens just when the chronograph seconds hand is approaching 12, so it would seem that either there isn’t enough power to flip the counter (why I checked that it was being wound daily) or there is a blockage of some sort. The minute counter has a small spring associated with it and that could be out of adjustment.

Another thing that can cause this is if the main hour hand happens to be touching the minute counter hand and holding it back from moving, it will cause the watch to stop.

So a few possible things, but they all should be easily resolved by Omega.

    Cheers, Al

Question for the gold Speedy owners. How easy is it to remove links from the bracelet? Is Loctite applied to the screws?

    Hi,

I have done it by myself, not very difficult. Some type of sticky mass is on the screws,
but it is more something, that the screws will not get lost during the normal wearing.
It is not like Loctite where you need a lot of power to open up the screws.

Be careful, gold is not steel, but if you keep that in mind it is very easy.

I would rather a Boutique staff member or watchmaker stuff up than myself on a gold bracelet :whistling:

    just saying ;)

Thanks for the reply. I've striped a few stainless steel screw heads in the past and was wondering if you need to extra careful with gold solid ones.

just no fear, but the screwdriver must be exactly the same size. I use one in 1.6 mm

If it is someone trained as a watch tech I would trust them, but just a staff member, no way. Personally, I adjust my own bracelets, never had a problem. Proper tools and confidence = success.

I’m curious how the Goldie is holding up, in terms of scratches/scuffs after frequent use...any issues?

    ps
Hope you get her back soon!

    Well,

it is winter time … most of the time she has a sleeve as protection above her.
That prevents against scratches. When the summer comes it will be the real
test period for that, but until now: no big scratches seen, everything is fine.

Right now I am informed, that the watch will return on 24.01.2020 - than we
will maybe know more about what was the problem with the 3861.

I have been wearing the watch extensively since this past August and will somewhat echo what Hans said (mine is still going strong... fortunately, no signs of malfunctioning!!): the watch does not seem to be prone to scratching or scuffing, and the brushed finish on the clasp is also helping.
May be I have just been careful and/or lucky enough (and as Hans said, long-sleeve shirts provided the needed level I'd added protection), but this watch is not any more fragile than any other I have had.

Of course, the first major ding I will inflict on it will make me think differently.... ;)
