Still have it and more of it is showing tomorrow on Fratello, as I am doing a hands-on review and comparison with a BA145.022.
Just to continue with my data compilation about the interface between JB bracelets and Speedmaster inner lugs: any significant scratches or wear on your example? Thanks.
Good. Though that should have happened as planned! Otherwise if Omega were not able to allocate them (mind you most of these 1014 were allocated to own boutiques) then that should have been considered breaking news!
New here, and this watch is the reason why. I was hoping they'd bring out something special this year in gold and for me they didn't disappoint. Surprised there isn't more excitement on here about this. Who else is looking at getting one?
I think for many (based on this thread) - the look is an acquired taste and the price. Most are saying if they have that kind of $, they are looking at other watches. Plus, you know, limited edition, won't have a chance to get it anyway
Certainly that price point is a lot of money to pay for a watch, few could argue against that. I do think for what you're getting here though, it is comparatively well priced ie you're looking at that price point for any stock standard solid gold similarly sized Omega., yet here there's the addition of a new movement (decorated to celebrate in gold plating), introducing a new gold alloy, and that's without adding its celebrating Apollo 11s 50th......, limited number, so much going on here all in the one watch. For me though just looks amazing from the pictures and all the moon stuff is subtle (ie on the back of the watch, which I prefer then in your face on the dial). Also it has enough history to make wearing a yellow gold watch cool imo.
I have been thinking about this watch a bit lately and while it is stunning in its own right (and meets the Omega team's evident goals of making a direct homage to the 1969 version...)... I still feel that Omega missed an opportunity to come up with something new and unique. The possibilities are limit-less so why go for a 1:1 reproduction? Why murky the waters of the original model? Why not come up with a different bezel color (at least) or something more innovative like moon texture as seen on the Apollo 8? Again, the 2019 version is great and well done... but nothing new under the sun...
