I'm looking to buy a 1985 Speedmaster with a movement number 469mil - 481mil which should be close enough to estimate a production year of 1985. Case condition and dial should be good to very good (even better) as noted in Speedmaster101.

Finally chased down a 1980 from a trusted and active member here on the OF. So now the hunt is on for a 1985.

 

Suggestion: change the title of this thread as well; an 1985 Speedmaster would be a 145.022 CRS...

 

I have a March of ‘85 Speedy 145.022 that isn’t a CRS case (I know CRS would be engraved under the reference if it were). Do CRS cases fall between the OP’s movement number range of 469mil - 481mil? My movement number is 468mil.

Here is mine. Currently at my watch maker getting a movement only service. Has the original bracelet too. Don’t mind the dust in the movement pic- that was taken before it was sent to my WM.

 

That's very well possible. The CRS and somewhat rarer ADB cases (like yours) seem to have been used in an overlapping period of time. After comparing several dozens of 1980 Speedmaster extracts, I can only conclude that the 80s have been interesting, to say the least. Serial number sequences and production dates don't line up in the way they did in the 70s. For example, I have never before seen an extract of a Speedmaster in the 46878xxx range, the only one I have observed in this range was dated June `87. If yours is indeed a confirmed March '85 one, that would be another anomaly in the range. Interesting. Do you have an extract of this watch?
