For sale is an Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch ST145.022-69. This is no doubt one of the more recognized Speedmasters variations with the “new” 861 movement, flat chronograph hand, stepped dial, and smooth hippocampus back.

I recently acquired a bit of a grail piece (that needs some parts and a service) so I’m looking to thin the herd to maintain some goals for my collection in 2019.

Reference: 145.022-69

Movement: Cal. 861

Dial: Stepped dial runs through the hour markers and Speedmaster lettering has the long S and R. Although the dial is not “brown” it is certainly lighter grey/tan and some may call it “tropical.” I don’t care what you want to call it, it is fantastic looking (especially in the flesh).

Markers: Great consistent patina and there is absolutely no flaking whatsoever.

Crystal: Hesalite with Omega logo

Bezel: Correct large font Tachymetre with plenty of “character.” This bezel is a chameleon and will change from blue to gray depending on the light and background. Some people call these bezels “ghosted.”

Hands: Original and correct with a nice tan patina. The hour recorder hand is whiter but has a drop of tan on it so I believe it may still be the original.

Chrono: Correct square end that matches the hands and does not have any flaking. Really dark lume as seen in the photos.

Pushers/crown: Correct. The crown has a small scrape above the Omega symbol.

Caseback: Correct -69 stamped hippocampus

Serial #31,323,*** (blocked out for the privacy of the next owner). Watch comes with signed extract showing a manufacture date of April 2, 1971 and a delivery to Switzerland.View attachment 814409

EXTRAS - Obviously the extract from Omega, a sheet of the 50th anniversary of the Moon Landing stamps, the black Omega Velcro strap (NEW), Hippocampus paperweight from the Speedmaster big box, a new cheap handmade leather strap.

Please refer to the pictures as the best indication of condition. The photos of the watch were taken by an old iPhone 6 and have not been edited. Below is my best attempt to fully describe the watch.

This is a classic watch with honest wear. It is in working order, the chronograph functions as it should, starting / stopping / and resetting to zeroes. The watch keeps good time but I am unsure of its service history and therefore recommend a service.

I would like $5500 obo PayPal F&F or wire.

My asking price is based on my evaluation of the condition of the watch, research into similar examples I have seen, and the Speedmaster 101 chart. I’ve purchased and sold several watches on OF - and have plenty of feedback if you care to search my username. I’ve also listed this watch on eBay at a premium due to fees, but would much rather keep it in the OF family.

Turns out I forgot movement pictures - so a solid reason for a bump. Movement is clean and the gasket is new.

Additionally, here is a photo to demonstrate the color difference between this and another -69. You can tell it’s not brown but it also doesn’t really appear to be black.

I was told by a good friend on OF that my photos of this watch suck 🤔 which is true, but that should make you want this piece more because you know it will be better in person! Here is at least one I moved the chronograph hand so you can see the lettering.
