    hi
I need your opinion on a speed master 125 (limited to 2000 ex - best to my knowledge)
I have been offered one for 1500 euro
Unknown service history but all original.

Condition - good, not polished at all
Bracelet in 3 parts - but looks complete.

    Is that an ok price?
    Thx for advice

    Br Loncar

    A few images to confirm condition, & originality……would, perhaps, be a pre-requisite ?

Assuming that the dial is in good condition then it’s a good price. The cal 1041 movement shares parts mostly with the cal 1040 so parts shouldn’t be a problem. However I would be attentive to whether the bracelet could be repaired. These are integrated with the case and repairs are difficult. also spare links (and spare bracelets) are hard to come by. So... if the bracelet can be fixed and the dial is ok it’s a very good price.

There were likely a lot more than 2,000 of these produced; check this for a brief summary of a long thread from OF. Also, a genuine 125 should have the 1041 (chronometer) movement in it, not the non-chronometer 1040.

I wouldn't buy it expecting the bracelet to be repairable.

    Indeed.

OP, If you were selling this watch, wouldn’t you try to repair the bracelet first? And if so, why wouldn’t you do so?

The only reasons I can think of would be because its too hard or too expensive.

As I stated already, the likelihood of the bracelet being repairable is a big ??? They have a an unusual construction method which doesn't lend itself to practical repair.

ask the seller to repair the bracelet and add the repair cost to the selling price.

I can't help wondering how many were actually made in the end. I suspect a whole bunch more than Omega are prepared to admit.
