Good morning from a cold and windy Sweden!

Stumbled over a Speedmaster 105.012-64, I think that these are kind of hard to find nowadays...
So that's why I have some questions.

The dial on this one looks like "crap"....馃檨
And the hands need work also.
The rest of the watch is worn, but untouched!

Is this one a possible relume project??

The lume plots look weird and the sub dial has a strange oily (maybe??) spot/ringmark..
I haven't seen this kind of defects before on a dial.

Should I just walk away...??

And here are the pictures...::facepalm1::

I'm eager for the real pros to weigh in, but the lume plot goo plus the rust (?) on the hands sure look like not much good will be found inside the case. Has the seller provided movement shots?

Should you walk away? Depends on the price!

It is the dial that spooks me....
I think its to ugly to not adjust, but not sure if this is possible??

It鈥檚 certainly a candidate for a relume and it will improve matters. How much depends on overall condition which is hard to judge from those photos. What I mean by that is the best relume candidates have a nice dial body colour but poor lume. On the other hand often when the lume is poor, the dial body is also tired, dry or degraded and on these examples although a good relume will help, it will still look very average due to the general dial condition.

On your photos it鈥檚 hard to judge which category this dial falls into

Its not the most easy thing to take pictures through a loupe...馃槻
But I understand what you mean, I am kinda worried the the "bleeding" around the lume plots can't be adjusted...
And the "circle mark" around the sub dial - have you any idea what that could be??

I guess it's a matter of price. The dial an hands definitely need some attention but wouldn't be a downer for me.
Dials can be saved if they are in the right hands. Here is a before and after of a very oily and badly scratched up 105.003 dial of mine that i restored recently.

Some close-ups!

The close-ups are fine, but I'd like to see the case, dial and bezel in one photo to see if there is firstly a uniformity to the overall condition. Also I would want a clear photo of the case back, inside case back (to see what we are dealing with) and the movement. There is more to be seen. As for restoring the dial, why not, but it might look okay and coeval in the total context. price is a big consideration once the overall condition is assessed. 馃憤

I agree the dial and the hand could be easily restored from my specialist in Milan IMHO.

Cheers
