Saw this on Ebay today. Is it worth the price asked? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Omega-Speed...856?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3f4b4d54e8Purchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network
personally I would say not, just too beaten up for my taste, others may disagree, and I would not be surprised to find it sold. But to quote Spacefruit from another thread "In these times, finding a 105.003 is very difficult. Attractive ones sell for a lot of money, and this brings onto the market poor examples chasing those high prices"
There are a couple very rough looking 105.003's on eBay right now asking some shocking prices. Not good for the actual 'good examples' if they are able to fetch those amounts.
Dial: Rooted Bezel: Mostly rooted Hands: Completely rooted Case and Caseback: Mostly rooted Crystal's probably a generic with no tension ring as you can see the edge of the dial and no black ring. Bracelet's missing. I'd rather wear a $500 Seamaster 552
i agree with the others. Looks like it was stored too close to the fireplace for too long. here's another one with a high asking pricing. Note the touch-up on the minute register http://www.ebay.com/itm/321733312628?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:ITPurchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network
Actually it is a surprisingly original watch. Not worth the money, but I would rather have this than a dealer's "restoration". As always it is about the money. This is way too much.
At best I'd say this would be a nice resto project (being all original, presumably), but that price...eep. nope. nope.com. dr. nope.
I'd say so, yea. The brown staining on hands and on the edge of the subdials looks like rust, thing is the movement doesn't look rust stained except for a weird spot on the balance cock that looks like the plating is worn off. I tend to be suspicious when the dial is so bad but the movement is so nice as Speedmasters with their steel movement components tend to rust there while the dials tend to hold up fairly well typically when there's been moisture in them.
