Mods please let me know if I should be approaching you about putting my future listings in the normal "For Sale" section...

    Hi All,
Some of you that follow me on Instagram @lewiswatchco will be aware that I've been building some SM300's over the last couple of months.

Well some are ready now. There will only be 6 in total. 2 date and 4 non date. Two of the non dates are spoken for already.

What I've done with these is a fair bit more thorough than what Watchco did with theirs a few years back.

The movements are still from donor watches (565 for date and 552 without date) however they have had no expense spared servicing performed which included as a minimum new centre wheels, cannon pinions, mainsprings of course, some have had new barrels, barrel bridges, balances. Essentially whatever they needed in terms of new parts as well as traditional techniques to reduce or eliminate the effects of 50 odd years of wear on someone's wrist.

Add to that entirely synthetic lubrication and at least a month of testing and fine tuning. Each case back has been professionally engraved on the inside with the serial of the movement, the build date, my company initials and the sequence number (1 of 6)

They have all been tested waterproof to 100meters which is all the Witschi Proofmaster S will go to. - This is a professional grade machine and is extremely sensitive to case deformation under vacuum and pressure. They have also been wet tested.

I then produced a certificate for each watch giving its particulars. It's timing and waterproof test performance numbers are listed.

ALL parts are new stock except of course the movement. ALL parts used are Omega and the correct ones for this reference, right down to the case clamps and screws. ALL bezels align properly at 12, no dodgy factory seconds here ;)

I have added the latest deployant clasp and leather or rubber strap which are also Omega items. Perhaps controversially I don't like the mesh bracelet ( apart from to look at ) as it's hard to get a proper fit and is uncomfortable to wear. Likewise the 1171 / 633 is a $25 bracelet with a $400 price tag.

Wrapping it all up is a brand new wooden Omega box of the Planet Ocean / modern SM300 variety. Plus a 12 month warranty on my workmanship.

If you're looking for a SM300 please consider one of mine :)

First up is build number 1, a date version with the 565 and fully functioning quickset, it has a black rubber strap from a Planet Ocean plus the new deployant clasp.

The price for all this loveliness? $5250 Australian dollars.

So what have we got here .

    Another Watchco?

    I don't think so.

Unlike a lot of Watchcos (my use of a now generic term), this is a great example of one of the most iconic Omega diver watches ever made.

Sure, it's got service parts and an old donor movement. But the service parts are exactly what Omega Switzerland would replace if you sent your 300 to Bienne.

And while the movement is a "donor", the refurbishment, adjusting and testing that's been done would probably make it better than any original floating around.

Another thing I like is the LWC branding, this isn't going to be passed of as "my Uncle left me this Omega". It has a history from the 1960s, and now it's history begins again.

    Is the price too high?

    I don't think so.

    Consider the cost of:

the actual 300 parts (case, crystal, dial (date wheels), crown, stem, seals.),
    the donor movements,
    the OEM refurbishment parts,
the labour time for all of the cleaning, inspecting, assembling, testing,
    the documentation and
    original Omega boxing/packaging.

I'm in no way affiliated with the seller but I do like to see a good honest product, this is one of them.

    Kudos Adam!

Thankyou Space, the engraving actually looks cleaner than the Omega one which is a surprise! I was a bit nervous when I handed them over to get done.

I have had the opportunity to view and handle a number of these SM300s from LWC and they are simply the superb. The workmanship and care taken to source the correct parts, service and compile these SM300s is a credit to Adam - a great blend of new and vintage. You can't go wrong dealing with LWC.

    :thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Weekend bump - btw I have other genuine Omega strap options if the black rubber PO type doesn't float your boat.
