Hi, just stumbled upon this one on Ebay, it´s a bit rugged and got the american market cal 550, serial that sounds about right, dial, hands and bezel that matches but the font on the dial looks a bit thick. Im no expert so Im turning to you guys, is this alright or not?

From the low res pictures, I think it's a poor redial (wrong fonts and low quality prints) and that's why it's been there for a while and no taker yet.

Okey, the font looks the same as this one, are you thinking redial here as well? It looks like relume to me, but Im really not sure :S

I don't think number 6 looks the same. Could be due to low res and different camera angles. I cannot tell with just a small part of the dial either.

This is a different watch, should have mentioned that first obviously, sorry! I dont have a proper "macro" of the complete dial right know, does this help a bit?

I understand that it's a different watch, that's why I said the number 6 didn't look the same (i.e. different).

The O in Omega of the second one looks too oval to me, again, may be because of camera angle. I haven't seen that much oval of the O on a vintage SM 300 dial, but maybe someone else has and could verify this.

Ok, it might be the angle, will request better pictures from the seller!

I'm confused - are you asking about this watch or the one on eBay?

If it's the one on eBay that you are considering I'd personally take a pass and wait for a better example. But that's just my two cents...

Looks good from afar except for the combination of oval O and those feet of the Ω symbol that I have not seen yet. Better wait for the experts to chime in.

Sorry it´s going a bit to fast for me as well :p I just got offered this from a very polite seller, looks good at first glance, but I figured I´d check here as well. This one is not the one in the ebay-ad!

It´s a watch that was sold on this forum, so I think it is kosher but what Im not sure about is if it´s relume or not, looks kind of like it.

Looks quite age consistent if it's been relumed. And you'd have to fix the lume on the hour hand anyway.

I don't know how long you have been looking for a Seamaster 300 but the one thing you need is patience. It took me well over a year to find mine.

The one for you will be out there but the one on the eBay link is rough, to say the least. There are so many frankens/re-dials etc. out there that buying one is a complete minefield and I do know collectors who run away from Seamaster 300s purely because of the risk

You are completely right, I´ve only been looking a couple of months and can only confirm what you are saying! But I have no patience, which is a bit of a problem...

I'm still new to the game compared to some of the experts here, but I have learned to take my time (pun intended) buying a watch. I read a thread on PuristPro about guys hunting for the right watch for years. The watch purchases that I have made spur of the moment have been the ones I have regretted.
