Hey guys. I have been looking for an omega silver snoopy award full set and am looking for some input on the price I should aim for. I see one posted in the sale forum for 14.7k which is out of my budget. I was hoping for around 12.5. Do you think this is possible? Any advice on finding one? Thanks very much :).

try watchrecon.com and set an alert. One was mentioned the other day that was for closer to $12k then $14k USD. Not sure what watch forum though (which is where watchrecon helps)

I have had two, the first one cost £8.5k (UKP) in Feb 2016 and the second one was £9k earlier this year.

Both now gone. They do turn up.

I should have never sold mine. My biggest watch related mistake.

Don't repent. It may not be your biggest watch related mistake after few years. I don't see any thing classic or extraordinary to keep the bubble going for long. In fact the back appears to be more interesting than the dial to me. Just my 2c....

I sold one here on the forum not too long ago for $11,800. You just need to find a nice guy like me. (I have another which is my keeper, so no regrets).

The mean selling price in 2017 has been US$14 785. Prices are holding at that level and even rising. Last one I saw sold went for US$15 200.

Yea... I'm fine with spending around 12.5-13k for a nice example but I'm not going to go crazy. Well I guess I will keep looking for a while. No rush.

This price just truly blows my mind. I don't know what is worse... a dealer asking that much or a buyer paying that much. I love the watch but.......................................... ::screwloose::::screwloose::::screwloose::::screwloose::::screwloose::::screwloose::::screwloose::

You could say the same about the early Speedys - these were/are toolwatches and shouldn't command these prices. Will be interesting to see if this is a bubble/outflux of low interest rates or a sustainable level with continuing growth. One thing is for sure, they don't get more and end up in collections. Flipping should be mostly over by now which will make them even more expensive while the overarching theme lasts.

I would just like to point out that list price does not necessarily equate to selling price. The mean asking price has been $14,785, but I'd wager that the mean selling price is at least a little bit lower. Even dealers like HQ Milton accept offers on their watches, and in fact most of the time they do go for lower.

Yes but as the average asking price increases so does the average selling price. There must be a strong correlation.

I'm not sure I follow. Asking prices have surely gone up, but I just don't think that means that these are now selling in the $15k range as he implied.

Let's pretend that the average asking price last year was 13.5. The average selling price might have been 12.5 last year.

So this year if the average asking price is 14.5 then if we have a strong correlation between asking and selling prices the selling price is around 13.5.

So if selling prices were around 12.5 last year and are 13.5 this year we are still seeing an increase.

I'm just using some numbers as an example they are probably not correct. Hope this makes sense...

They are selling higher these days. I have made at least 6 offers on silver snoopies in the last 3 months. The first one was for $12,500 and I lost out. The latest was for $15,500 and I lost out. So I know for a fact that selling prices are going up. A lot.

I understand exactly what you're saying and you're not wrong. Of course we are seeing an increase, I'm not disputing that. The OP claimed that the mean selling price this year has been $14,785. I was simply stating that you can't just take the prices listed on Chrono24 or wherever at face value; calling asking prices selling prices is disingenuous.
