    Good Morning,

I wanted to pick the communities brain on what it mean to them personally if a piece has a Omega serviced replacement parts vs. generic parts.

Is this something that changes the quality of the wristwatches performance?

What parts must be Omega in the eyes of a collector as far as the movement is concerned?

What aspects of a wristwatch must be original in your personal opinion for it to be considered as a possible purchase?

Are there any pros to using non-Omega parts?

I find that different brands have different answers to these questions and would like the insight of a true Omega Collecting community!

Thank you in advance to any time spent in responding to this thread!

Non Omega parts or non OME parts for any watch brand are considered fake and counterfeit parts, by Forum policy. We have a zero tolerance policy for the sale, depiction or linking to such parts or watches; except as part of an educational discussion or exposure.

You will find that there are virtually none such parts available commercially, in terms of movements.

Depictions and sale of watches with refinished (repainted) dials is allowed if this is disclosed. Most collectors find such piece unacceptable except in most extreme cases, where there is no alternative.

Generic crowns and crystals may be used or depicted as there are occasions when there is no viable alternative.
After market straps or bracelets are a matter of individual preference.
After market Speedmaster bezels would not be considered knowingly acceptable or permitted on the forum for sale.

This is a brief synopsis, the intricacies of the social understand of this among the watch community is certainly more complicated and requires time and participation to understand more completely.
