Omega Seasmaster 2532.80.00 or 2254.50.00?

I am thinking on getting my first luxury watch and have narrowed my choices down to a preowned Omega 2532.80, or a 2254.50. Which one would you chose and why? I wonder how easily the aluminum bezel of the 2254 will get scratched.

I believe both use the same caliber 1120. Is this a good movement and easy to service?

My wrist is 6.5 inches..will it look too big?

Thank you for any help!

I would take the 2254.50 without question. The 1120 movement is a tried and true workhorse, mine was last serviced in 2014 and it is keeping great time chucking along at +4 seconds per day, though "Ray Donovan" has probably earned a trip to the spa soon!

It is a true tool watch, so regardless of which reference you choose, the case, bracelet and aluminum bezel can take a bit of knocking about. Added bonus is that both of these watches are relatively "thin" by modern standards being 12mm in height.

Good luck!

Personally, I hate the skeleton sword hands so the 2254.50. You may want to consider the electric blue 2255.80, if you like the blue dial.

You may also want to consider the 2230.50 with its white gold bezel.

Just read that the 2532.80.00 does not have domed anti‑reflective crystal like the others..so I might go with the 2254..

2254 everyday. It’s a proper tool watch and can still be worn/used as a tool watch for the value too.

The lume legibility is unbeatable.

Fantastic lume! Fits perfectly on your wrist too. May I ask what is your wrist size?

The only thing that knocked a 2254.50 off my wrist was the LE Railmaster. It's that fabulous. And yes, the 1120 is a good movement.

I am not sure that is correct. Every SMP whether mid sized or full has an internally coated domed sapphire crystal. If you have found one without it may have been replaced.

I have owned pretty much every SMP variant out there, I love them. I did try a mid size but couldn’t get on with the limited dial real estate, the bezel robs a lot of dial area. Obviously try both on but I still think you’d get on with a full size just fine as they wear small and are very slim with short lugs. Personally I like the titanium models which feel weightless but my favourite is the so called ‘Non-America’s Cup’ 2230 steel & gold model as shown by efauser above. That is pretty special as it has a different dial from the others with applied markers in addition to the gold sculpted bezel which adds something over and above the bare tool watch aesthetic the 2254 channels so well.

I still like the 2254, I’ve had a couple and moved them on, but I find myself gravitating to the less often seen versions. One issue with the 2254 and Bond 2531 version is that the coloured anodised bezel insert can look tatty when dinged. This is less of an issue with the other bezel metal variants used on the 2255 (steel), 2230 (gold) and 2231 (titanium), those van take a knock and still look good, or in the case of the polished steel can be easily repolished when marked.

ps you have highlighted 2 styles in different sizes, both styles of those styles are available as both mid and full size, only the titanium and GMT models are full size only IIR correctly.

Glad I'm not the only saddo that noticed that! It's on my purchased list because of it! I was always wondering how many he had because of the amount of times he get's the sh1t kicked out of him! Obviously it's history because he is not wearing it in series 5 or 6.

This is not correct. None of these models use a flat crystal.
