One has to watch out for contemporary counterfeits. I would be most wary of quartz watches as so many were being produced in the 1980s. Everyone wanted quartz. There was a lot of overproduction then as well, so a good name often could be swapped with something that was sold by the container load. The first thing I was told in the late 1980s when I started collecting. "Watch out for fakes."

I also like the dial. It is very interesting. Never seen other dial like that but sadly it is not in very good shape and I do not know if it will be possible to be restored to original condition. It is only an amateur opinion..

OP...If that was your dad's watch then try to get it to a decent local watchmaker to see if it runs and can be cleaned up enough for you to wear!
