I have a small question in regards to my Speedmaster, just wondering if its working properly.

So I bought this fine piece at the end of 2019, with box and papers, pristine condition but no instruction manual.

My brother in law also has the same Omega and i was looking and both our watches and i noticed one thing that was a bit weird.

My omega everything works fine and keeps time as well as it should however i noticed that the bottom dial with the hour markers seems to be always engaged even if the chronograph isn't pushed down however if i push the reset button this also reset to 12.

I noticed on my brother in-laws watch that this part of the dial doesn't seem to move, but will if you engage the chronograph button and is noticeable after about 10 minute.

Just wondering because i didn't get a manual and couldn't find a manual online I might be not be understanding certain caveats of the watch.

Needing to know if I am some how not pushing buttons or combination of buttons right or should i get this watch seen by someone. (Note: I have never pushed the engage or reset button together as i know that is very bad for the watch)

Will be interested to see the reply of a watch maker. However I'm going to say, no it should not be running if the chrono is not running. And I would avoid hitting the reset button until you get an expert opinion

Hmmmm thank you, I wonder what other owners or watch servicemen would say, It runs fine and have no issue with the power reserve or its time keeping, so unsure if okay to leave it as it is if its not gonna affect the watch, or i should get it seen to as it might lead to bigger problems.

I have heard with these reduced automatic version are a lot harder to service which aslo causes it to have a larger repair bill.

Guess I will wait and see.

So first this is not a "reduced" model, as those you a 3 hand movement with a chronograph module stuck on top. This is a fully integrated chronograph movement, and is based on the ETA 7750. This is an Omega 1152 likely.

What you are seeing is a common thing on Speedmaster Pro chronograph movements, known an hour recorder creep. There is a blocking lever that keeps the hour recorder form moving, and it is not doing the job. The problem is usually related to lubrication of the hour recorder wheel on this movement specifically. A regular service should take care of this no problems.

In the mean time, you can just reset the chronograph - doing so when the chronograph is stopped will not do any harm, and letting is creep is fine too.

Cheers, Al

Oh thank you for the information, that is really helpful I was looking at the papers and it is indeed the 1152. Man I am glad there are people out there a lot smarter who can figure out my jumbled words. I assumed that all speedy under 40mm was reduced "D'oh"

Now i know what the problem is called and that is not too much of a biggie, I have peace of mind. I might leave it since its not doing harm, it isn't bothering me too much and the watch is keeping amazing time. Once its time for a service I will bring it up with the service people.

Thank you again mate!

Nice watch I like it with the silver dial. I have something similar but it’s the traditional black dial.

Does anyone know how to if there is a substitute white or black dial for this watch. I find the silver dial hard to read. I found a Japanese Speed Dial with the red indicators, cool dial set. This should fit if it's off a 3513.55 (still 7750?). Any advice on making the switch and where to get one?
Thx
