    Hello fellow watch friends

I found this nice Omega Seamaster from the 1950s on a local auction platform.
Dial and Hands seem to be correct for this reference. Case is in good condition. The replacement crown doesn't bother me much. But whats is your take on the movement? Are the little spots on the rotor and the auto bridge signs of corrosion and do they need to be replaced?

After 60 years, you have to expect a little wear and tear.

That should go away when the movement is cleaned.

The beryllium copper alloy that Omega used to plate the movements was rust resistant. Looks like surface dirt to me.

Watch is very nice. Find a clover style crown for it and enjoy.

Thanks very much for the valuable input. That's what i wanted to hear (or not as it would already be my fifth watch this year... :D).
Buy it now is a little bit high but I am trying to snatch it with a smart bet... :)

I can see if the dial and markers are both gold. Can you confirm.

the markers most definitely are but don't know about the dial. Maybe we will find out, I am still the highest bidder...

That's made me realise that I didn't know what those movements parts are actually made of. Are they iron or steel which is then plated with beryllium copper? The plating cannot ever rust since rust is iron oxide.

Most movement plates and bridges are made of brass (a copper and zinc alloy). Some are made of German silver (also known by other names such as nickel brass or nickel silver) that has no actual silver in it - it is an alloy made of copper with high nickel and zinc content.

    Cheers, Al
