Hello,

Newbie here, I hope you can help me out:

I just received a vintage Seamaster Professional 200m Quartz Ref. 396.1062 and I am wondering about the date adjustment:

As far as I know it should work like this on this:
  • there are three positions of the crown
  • 1st position when the crown is unscrewed, no adjustment
  • 2nd position: pull out the crown: quick adjustment of the hour hand
  • 3rd position: pull out crown further: adjustment of minute hand

In the watch I received the 2nd position changes the date only, no movement of the hour hand, 3rd position works as mentioned above.

Has anyone experienced this or knows about if a different movement was used in some of these watches? Or does it mean a non ETA/Omega movement was built in this watch?

(I added some photos of the watch in case that helps)

Thanks!

I’m suspect there has been jiggery pokey there. The lume pip on the bezel is wrong meaning the insert is aftermarket. The lume itself is suspiciously uniform between hands and dial meaning it may have been redone. The behaviour you describe may suggest a swapped in movement. I would expect the 1438 to have the jump hour.

In short I don’t like it much I’m afraid.
