    Friends

    I own this watch.
its the large size and on recent batt change my WM mentioned that this model (large) is quite rare.

first thing, whats the correct name?
does it have a ref number from Omega?
    thank you
    T.

The ref. is TR 386.0885 and the Omega database calls it a Seamaster Titane. However, it's commonly referred to as a Polaris Multifunction XL. Some people regard it as a precursor to the X-33 line.

Didn't know about the X-33 precursor theory!

Interestingly it's the same 1665 (and yes the X-33 uses the 1666) movement as the tiny 32mm Polaris or the more appealing Seamaster SM120. I've been tempted a few times but couldn't get past the large "spacer" ring around the dial ;-)

Some more information on the X-33 precursor idea here. I also think the case shape of the prototypes seem to mirror the general design of the XL (multifunction and auto) Polaris Titane cases .

Some clarification required. 3860885 is the case number, and the first 2 letters in front determine the case material. I can't tell what material the OP's watch is for sure, but it looks like yellow gold and titanium, and in that case it would be TB 3860885. TR 3860885 is for pink gold and titanium.

But the case number is not the reference number for the watch. TB 3860885 can be for either a ref. 58405000, or a ref. 58445000. The difference is in the bracelet, and since the OP's bracelet is all Ti instead of Ti and gold, if the gold in the case is yellow the watch reference is 58845000.

    Cheers, Al

Perhaps should have prefaced my post with a disclaimer that the Omega database is far from complete and error-free! Always good to have you chip in and give us the real information. Just to check, should the reference I've bolded in your comprehensive analysis above not read 58445000? Thanks again

Here is the model which followed on using the same 1665 movement, the SM120m Multifunction which as mentioned above is the intermediate step on the way to the X-33. A nice modern wearable size at 38mm ie 2mm bigger than the other 120m SM Models. Many of the same functions but rather less usable than the X-33 as everything is run off the crown:

^^^ I had one of those in earlier this year - it was a great size (not too large or thick) and looked sharp. Much more wearable than the X-33, but as you say setting it required a bit of effort.

If anyone's after one in the US a good looking one has just popped up on eBay at a rather reasonable price of $900 and he says he's taking offers ;-)
