Do the Omega Seamaster Planet Oceans contain any gold in the co-axial movement? or any at all? I'm interested in buying one, but I can't find any information online about it.

Would appreciate if someone could answer this.

    Thanks.

From what I know. There are no gold parts unless you purchase the gold case version. The stainless steel will have an 8500 movement, whereas the the gold case will have an 8501 movement. The only difference between the 8500 and 8501 is the 8501 has a gold rotor.

I believe the regulation screws on the balance wheel are 18k (or maybe 14k?) white gold on the Cal.8500 movement. I presume gold was used for its high density, which permitted the use of a smaller size part.

Totally forgot about those tiny screws. Wonder if they would ever move to platinum for an even higher density.

Also forgot to mention. The 8501 also has a solid gold bridge as well, and not just a solid gold rotor.

Yes the screws indeed are 18k white gold on the balance wheel, but platinum would be very expensive to integrate into a movement and the weight wouldn't play well in the movement either
