Thanks. I actually purchased that watch on eBay and the deal fell apart when the eBay authenticators refused to certify it.

Don't shoot the messenger! 😲

What happened? They couldn't verify or said it wasn't real?

I had no previous experience with eBay's Authentication process, nor do I typically buy a watch this expensive without do a trade+cash deal.
Pulled the trigger because he agreed to come off his price by about 10% ( it was listed at a higher price originally ) and eBay was offering me another 10% off for a promo that has since expired.
I received a phone message and email from eBay saying this: After inspection, we've determined that the protective stickers are generic or aftermarket. They also mentioned the inside of the box is flaking and dried out. These details were not outlined in the listing by the seller. We're contacting you to confirm that, in light of this new information, you'd like to continue with the purchase.
I decided if they wouldn't certify it maybe I should back away

Better safe than sorry. Those red boxes are pretty bad though, and flake. I had a red box from a 1980ish 2254.50 that turned everything red from the flaking dye, including your fingers after touching it.
