Hello everyone. Been investing a lot of time into spotting redials passed off as original. Wanted to get some education on the following Seamasters from the same seller on Ebay. Thought this may be a helpful exercise as there are quite a few posts hoping to identify redials and seems to result in a lot of apprehesion over Ebay purchases. All listings are from a seller in Japan and listed between $700 and $800 USD. I attempted to try and ignore patina and focus on the details of the fonts etc. and to me 2 of the 6 look like redials. Of course, I could be totally wrong. I didn't include the various other pictures as to not overwhelm the post with tons of pictures making it confusing. I hope this is helpful for new forum members like myself looking to build up a vintage collection giving everyone some insight as to what aspects make it not look original. For reference:
    1st - 166.010 cal. 565
    2nd - 14761 SC 62 cal. 552
    3rd - 166.009 cal. 562
4th - Seamaster De Ville (unsure as not given case and movement pictures)
5th - (unsure as not shown case but think it's 166.010) cal. 565
    6th - 166.010 / 168.024 cal 565

#6 makes me suspicious because of the flat date window frame and the markers seem clunkier than the other two 166.010s you posted.

The font of #6 seems to be too thick. Could be wrong though.

Number three is a redial and I have a suspicion that number two may be a service dial.

Number 3 I was thinking was a redial too as the font and spacing seems off. Glad that seems to be a consensus.

All look ok... 3 needs a better examination as the hour markers and minute track seem off.

Anyone have any concerns about #1 at all? Here are the full set of pictures for it.166.010 cal. 565. Asking price is $798 USD. Unknown last service. I think the movement looks clean and I think the case and bracelet seem decent. seamaster1.jpg seamaster2.jpg seamaster3.jpg seamaster4.jpg seamaster5.jpg seamaster6.jpg seamaster7.jpg seamaster8.jpg seamaster9.jpg

Dial wise no. The 1 hour marker is not offset it’s lighting.

It might be heavily polished though. Is the brushing supposed to be that direction?

Price? Is that inline with others?

I'm definitely no expert on how polished it may or may not be. The price seems about right from what I've seen at $800 USD. Anything I see that doesn't have the few small dial/case scratches/imperfections are $1200+ or so. So if the consensus here is that it looks pretty good, I'll likely go for it. I definitely want to stay within my budget of < $1000

There might be something odd about the 166.010 case. Look at the side shots at the crown and opposite side and compare to these adverts (one of which is mine).

    https://omegaforums.net/threads/seamaster-562-with-bor.60577/

    https://omegaforums.net/threads/vin...-w-original-black-dial-on-bor-bracelet.79292/

See how the bezel (that surrounds the crystal) seems to overhang on those two but not on the one above? And they are both thinner in this area. Could be the photos but it looks odd to me.

The brushing should be vertical on these from my experience so that looks good. The movement looks very nice. If the case checks out, I'd say $800 (including a $200 BOR) is not a bad price, especially if it's serviced. It does appear to be polished but on my phone (!) it looks quite nice.

    Cheers, Chris

I see what you mean. The edges also look a bit rounded, I'm guessing it is likely due to being over polished. Will have to decide and see if that is something I can live with. $800 seems like a good price... appreciate the feedback.

I like #1. It looks really clean and it’s a great combination of cool hands and bracelet.

Update. Just received the first one in the picture set in the mail today! It looks fantastic and even better in person! Extremely happy with the purchase and think that $800 for it with the BOR bracelet was a great deal considering the condition. It does not appear overpolished at all. Tried taking some pictures, but mine turned out worse than the sellers pictures.
I'm now in the market for a 2nd 166.010 as a wedding gift for a good friend... Also hoping to find a Constellation that I will be just as happy with..

    Thanks everyone!
