First of all I’m not sure if 1998 is classed as vintage or modern. I’ve wanted a gmt watch for a while and it was between the omega or rolex explorer ii but after reading loads of reviews I went for the omega. It arrived today and very happy indeed. It’s in amazing condition and looks like it’s been sitting in a box for 20 years. The rubber bracelet has not even been cut to size. I will Wait until my local watch dealer is open next week so he can do it and then I can wear this great looking watch.

That is, indeed, a mighty impressive in condition Omega Seamaster GMT. Looks like NOS to me. Amazing find. I would have jumped on that one myself, in a New York minute
It does look like it has seen little wear. But it is still a 22-year old watch. I’d probably send it in for a service before wearing. If you do decide to wear it, don’t take it near water — the gaskets are likely shot Just from rot and I would doubt it would pass a pressure test.
I wanted one with the rubber strap as I really like the clasp but most I saw had been cut to size and were too small for my wrist. I’ve looked at it through a loupe and can’t see a mark on it.
I’ve been wearing my 2534.50 with original bracelet for 21 years in fairly regular rotation. It still looks sort of new. It’s been serviced three times for the hour wheel. OP can look up the hour wheel issue with 1128 movements, because it’ll have to be done at each service. I recently changed to a RubberB strap and love the new look on my old GMT.
I know this thread is old and I may or may not get a response, BUT I want one of these! Would you mind giving me a ballpark of what you paid? looking at one now and want to know if anyone has any tips on discerning authenticity without paperwork. Thanks!
