Hi guys, i found this beautifull vintage Omega and i have a couple of questions.
Is the crown original to this watch? From the photos i see that it is steel and im not sure if thats all right.
Was the dial retouched? I think that its ok but im not sure about it.
And overall is there anything wrong with it besides the crown/dial?

I think it’s all original, but used heavily enough to where the gold on the crown is worn through? Do you have it in hand to see if the crown is indeed steel or there is still remnants of the gold? This crown will be very difficult to find, although there are different style substitutes that are more readily available.

Unfortunately i don't have it in hand, but i'll ask for a photo of the crown.

+1. I had the same issue with my gold capped Seamaster 2761 - the gold plating on the crown had simply worn through. I couldn’t find an original crown, but another OF member was kind enough to send me a suitable replacement. See the “before” photo below with the old crown.

The crown wouldn't put me off to much since the rest of the watch is quite nice.

Since this is a hand wind it is indeed likely that the gold has simply worn off the crown.

What is the asking price?

The asking price is 630$ and if it really is just a worn off gold plating im buying it 😁

If the plating is worn and the crowns are very hard to find, is this a situation where just replating might be a good option? I guess it might look super new compared to the case, not sure if it could be scuffed up a bit or something without messing up the replate

The plating on this 2577-4 cal 351 is going in places (after all, it is a 72 year old watch) but I find that a gentle rub with a jeweller’s cloth is sufficient before I wear it.
