Hi, I'm interested in buying a uses model of this watch, it look genuine and in best condition. Can anyone help me how to check the serial number and if it's genuine? Thanks,
you haven't even given us the serial number, so you are asking if a watch we cannot see is genuine or not. There are a lot of people here with a great depth of knowledge of watches but as far as I know none of them are gifted with telepathy. Who is selling it? How much are they asking? Any box or papers? With the information provided so far I would guess fake, that way you won't lose a load of money......but heck I'm guessing
The surest way to do this is to put the watch into a case clamp, and then use a correctly set Jaxa too to remove the caseback where you can inspect the movement, photograph it and record the movement serial number if it has one. This serial number can then be compared to the case number to give us an idea of the validity of the watch. And pics would help.
Following is a photo of the watch, if i remember right the serial is 85547910. The seller says the papers and cards were thrown away mistakenly by the family, but he received a paper with copy of the three cards from the Omega importer, he says the can't bring new cards. please advise.
The serial number you gave is not for that model, it's for a ref. 32321404002001 - an automatic chronograph with a white dial and gold bezel... Cheers, Al
I had a mistake with the serial number, the right one is- 85774910. Can you find any info about it? which calibre is it? The price is 2,300 USD, no original box, papers or cards, only a copy of the cards. What do you think?
Thank you for the quick response, how is this calibre compared to the 8500? Can you attach the screenshot of the info? any more relevant information? The important question- is it sounds like a good deal? am i going to enjoy this watch? I've no experience with auto watches..
http://www.bernardwatch.com/blog/omega-2500-8500-movements/ This should help. The 2500D is the lastest iteration of the Caliber 1120 outfitted with Daniels' Co-Ax escapement. My understanding is that the escapement in the "D" is quite similar to the 8500 (but still a little different). The 8500 is a completely in-house design.
