    It's a front loader so you need to take it to a watchmaker to open it.
    I would think the sentimental value is greater than what it's actually worth.

    Depends a lot on the if it's solid gold or gold-filled. Should be marked on the case between the lower lugs (where the bracelet is attached).

    If sold on eBay, it would fetch $400-ish. However, being an heirloom, you could say it is worth what a dealer would ask which would be more like $750-ish after they cleaned it up and serviced it.

    Nice heirloom. :thumbsup: Don't ruin it by using it before you have the internal mechanism (we call it a caliber or simply the movement) cleaned, oiled, and adjusted.
