    Hi All,
This is my first post after many months of lurking in the shadows.
I bought this watch last year from a long standing jeweller who told me this dial is 18k and all original.
After studying other dials I began to doubt his word so seeked advice from Watchuseek members.
All comments came back positive with no cause for concern, even my watchmaker who has since serviced the watch seems to agree.
I am still not convinced as fonts seem off to me particularity the sharp 'A's and 'M' in automatic and swiss made.
Is it possible Omega used different fonts during this era or is this a redial?
    Many thanks

I would say it's probably a redial. The quality of the printing, among several other factors, seems inferior. The case is also polished to within an inch of its life. It would help to have a pic of the dial that is close-up and clear.

Sorry I am struggling to get a better photo as only have a crappy phone camera. In reality the lugs are not as bad as they look but as with most gold watches of this age they don't tend to be as sharp as stainless steel.

Here is the font to compare...it is a 14k gold plated day-date.
Hard to tell from these pictures, but "e" looks too busy... 20170411_233701.jpg

Will defer to the experts, but in my mind "probably" just went to "definite" redial with those last pics you posted. Still a sharp everyday wear watch so enjoy it. I think it's ref 166.020.

Thanks, I agree on the 'e' it does seem clumsy. Also DE in deville seems too close together. Are the 'A's on your dial sharp/pointed like mine or is that just the photo? I have seen a few images with sharp A's but I could just be looking a redials.

The thickness of the printing appears to vary at the 'DE' and the 'V" appears to have a spot at the the bottom of the v. The pics are not the best but it would seem to be a redial.

If the dial is 18k does anyone know how the fonts would have be applied? i.e. Engraved, etched.

Sorry my photos are not the best.
I have just looked through a x10 loupe and the font does look nice and sharp. It also looks like it might be engraved into the dial but hard to tell.

Thanks hoipolloi, I have read lots of your reviews over past few months.
Thanks all I think we can conclude it's a redial.
Still learning and hopefully done better with my more recent purchases.

    Thank you for y
Thank you for your kind words, from what I see, the Swiss Made is at a wrong place and the sharp top A and many things....
Regarding the gold dial, we need to look at the other side of the dial to know if it is or not.

No problem you and others have been a big help with my learning curve.
I will speak to my watchmaker about the dial material.
On a separate note this one arrived today so hoping I have learnt something since my first purchase in Dec. Unfortunately only gold capped this time but you can't have everything:)
