I am looking at an Omega Seamaster Chronostop 145.007 Cal. 865. Looking for assistance on the case finish, were they all a brush finish or were some polished?

    Thank you

    Hi Essenbob.

I usually look at as many examples as I can and try and study all the details, as a first port of call for research on a particular model. Have you searched on here, and google?

If these cases are like other Chronostops, as far as I know they have radial brushing on the top of the case, polished chamfered edges and either polished or brushed sides (someone else might have to confirm this)

a couple of useful links for you..

    Hope that helps.

Thank you SeaMSTR, useful links, I had searched many sites on google and found several examples of polished cases but nothing to help on whether this was an original option or not.

The only buying advice I found suggested that a polished rather than brush finish is the result of polishing to remove scratch marks and damage but several examples clearly had original polished case areas that had no signs of later polishing.

I have some omega reference books and the Chronostop seems to have been ignored, one of the reasons I would like one!

I will carry on looking as your links opened up the large variety of versions. Thanks again

Yes, that's right, too often there are terribly refinished cases and -backs.

Face of the watch is sunburst brushed, chamferings are highly polished up and below the straight brushed side parts of the case.

The Omega 145.007 Jumbo Chronostop has the same finish as the 145.008.
I have a first hand 145.008, that was worn only a couple of times.
The front has a sunburst brush finish:
