I'm no expert but doesn't the top left lug look less crisp and defined than the bottom left? Just an observation meaning it might of been over polished, that said how often do these beauties come up? I certainly wouldn't pass at the right price. It's looking fairly high at the moment though with still a fair few days to go!

This is one of Ronnie Shroff's listings on ebay. The cal.501/505 seamaster chronometres are actually more uncommon than the 352/354 seamaster chronometres but in my experience are not quite as sought after.

Case Ref. is OT2909. Has the cal. 505.

Agreed. Although in looking at this blow-up, I have some questions as to whether the dial is a very old redial. Something about the uniformity of the printing just doesn't look right. But, on the other hand, it does have the "Swiss" down at the bottom, which very few rediallers bothered with back then.

This is why buying one of these is so difficult to do long distance. Mr. Shroff has an excellent reputation. It's sometimes tough to get all the necessary nuances into the photographs and that could be the issue here.

Still, it is a very hard-to-find model.

I think he's looking at around $2600 ::end listing:: So it would be a gamble either way..but you could come up trumps! :)

I had a chance to pick up a similar watch on a TZ sale for $700 a few years ago, back before gold prices got crazy. Left work, forgot about it and it went to someone else who flipped it for over a 100% profit.

One of my biggest regrets in this hobby,

That's harsh! Sometimes they just get away. I had the opportunity to own the above but with bumper and textured cross-hair dial. But, again..bad timing and its probably doubled or tripled in price! :( you seem to have some lovely pieces though! ::jealous::

So anyone else have an opinion one way or the other on the dial? Gator appears, as one would expect from a CPA, to be cautiously hedging.

    I'm 90% sure it's ok, here's another example.

My biggest regret was not buying an 18k Constellation for $375...I hesitated a few seconds because I just bought my 30T2RG. I could have made some profit off of that...

I like it and expect it to sell between $2700 - $3100 if the auction is allowed to run it's course.

If I'd seen this first I'd be having a crack at it tbh, I won't be bidding since Gator seems interested but as a watch to wear, this one does look rather special.

Here are 2 from my collection - both 18k YG - the first is a 505 and the bottom one a 501:

    They are indeed attractive examples.

    Thank-you.

OK, now that I've seen two other examples of the same dial with the same combination of fonts, I feel much better about Mr. Shroff's example.

For the record, I won't be bidding on this one.

    Fire when ready, folks!
