Hello again,

I'm looking at another vintage omega that a local watchmaker has here locally by me. It looks extremely clean and was wondering the value, its gold plated and think I can get for a few hundred bucks . Should I go for it??

Too good to be true, but if you’re okay with a redial, this looks to be a nice one and the movement looks good too.

If you’ve been told it’s been serviced, get a copy of the invoice detailing what was done.

In the absence of a service try for a discount on the fact that this 60 year old watch will need one

Thanks all for your input, the watch was indeed serviced but the dial almost looks brand new and I knew something was up, totally glad I posted, gonna stay away I think. Just wish the guy would be honest with me.. wondering if he did or someone before him, I'll ask more questions
Few hundred for a redial I'd pull the trigger

FYI - This is what is referred to as a gold capped case. A stainless steel base with about 240 microns of solid gold fused to it. Heavy gold plate would only be about 80 microns with many Omegas from the 60s/70s being a thin as 20 microns.

So, went back to the watch shop today and he claims no redial, all original... I obviously dont know what to look for other than the dial looks brand new. Anyone care to point out the obvious that I'm apparently missing?

The minute track is way out of alignment with the markers to start with.

And to add the script in "Omega" and "Seamaster" are very bold.

When I find myself in situations like that at a shop I say thank you and look elsewhere.

Agreed. That is a red flag 👎

Well in all fairness the biggest red flag is what X350 XJR pointed out.
Very true. Maybe a red flag for the store in general.

Very true indeed. Its unfortunate this guy has alot of vintage stuff, omega, Hamilton and a ton of bulova vintage stuff, looks like all the watches are mismatched no original crowns etc.

Or in general that X350 XJR had something to point out.
