Take it to a watchmaker. This is a manual wind caliber and you should get quite a few turns out of it before it stops. Does the watch run? If so, how long?

Well after winding the stem completely I run the watch. The second hand moves for about 30 seconds and then stops.

The clock still counts the time. Maybe I should press the second button and let the seconds hand rest at 12.

The second hand on the subdial at the he 9 o'clock position should run continuously. The large central chronograph hand should only run when you depress the top chrono pusher, then stop when you depress it again. The bottom pusher resets the chrono. Are you saying the watch keeps time fine but the chronograph doesn't work correctly?

Yes the subdial at the 9 o'clock position works properly and the so does all the other subdials but the main chronograph doesn't function properly.

Take it to a watchmaker. He'll sort it out for you.
