Hi there,

Thinking of buying this Cal 550 watch online, but like to ask if everything looks original from the pictures? Asking as I’m very new to watch collecting, and the watch seems to be in incredibly good condition for the age, so not sure if its been refinished etc. Thank you for your help in advance 😀

It would be a big help to have the case number. Frequently there are other examples online or, hopefully, in Omega's vintage database.

The serial number on movement is 22598770, seems to be made in 1965 when i researched on the serial number. Can’t find the exact watch on omega database but i think it should be one of below two models

I would not call that "incredibly good condition". It doesn't appear to be anything special and I'd call it probably just ok but the dial is impossible to assess from that photo. It isn't the LL6298 you linked to as that has a press-in back but it does look like the LU6304. The crown sticks out some way and I would think is a replacement. Not a watch to get wildly excited about IMO but without knowing the asking price it's difficult to comment further.

ADD: This is what a particularly nice example of this reference should look like, sold here some time ago.

The condition is ok, not exceptional but not bad at all. For me the dial looks original. A little polishing would give a good look I guess. If the price good you should go for it

I would need better/larger photos to be certain that the condition is good. There is nothing out of the ordinary about it (the incorrect crown is a pretty common "issue") and even a small loss of gold plating will mean a lot, value-wise. At $600 I would probably seek out something else.

EDIT: looking at the two photos, I would say that the top right lug is bent.

Oh and the seconds hand is either broken or a too short replacement.

Wouldn't buy it. Not great looking, wrong crown and 1:00 lug looks bent
