I bought this watch 10 years ago without having a clue. Can anyone tell me which model it is or wheter it is potentially a fake? Thank you
I'm a total newb still but the one thing I notice is the crown doesn't have the Omega sign on it. The pros on this forum will probably ask if you can take the case back off so they can see the inside of it and the movement.
10 years ago and you're just now worried it may be a fake? Take it to a watchmaker and have them remove the back, take clear, in focus photos of the numbers on the movement and the numbers inside the case back. Once you have those, post them here and we can help you.
I'd agree that you should get a picture of the caseback to determine reference and also a pic of the movement. I will say that I'm no expert either but the proportions of the dial seem a bit off to me.
It's not a fake. If you shake it gently you should feel movement inside it which will be the "bumper" movement. It looks like a 342 from 1950ish. The subsecond dial looks a bit odd but I think that's the original dial with acceptable ageing. The crown (= the winder) has been replaced and the back has been damaged probably by an unsuitable strap, but still potentially a decent watch. Edited to add: If you do take the back off, be VERY CAREFUL to ensure no dirt from around the edges falls into the movement. A wooden toothpick is quite good for cleaning that off first.
Another poster who asks for advice, disappears immediately and never comes back. I suppose we should be used to it by now......
Maybe he is looking into getting the movement revealed so he can take pictures? He did not ask "What is it worth?", so that is a very positive sign.
Does anyone think the numbers are radium? That is not strap damage on the back. It is someones initials. A.S.
