    Dear Colleagues,

I have the opportunity to purchase this watch for approx $ 450 with shipping - what do you think about watch, price (fair or too high?) and condition? Watch from the first owner, works. What it could be a reference number?
Thank you in advance for your help
    regards

I am by no means an expert, but the price looks a bit high, by maybe $100.

I would be more interested in the watch at 350. This would be especially true if you didn't 100% trust the seller.

Some factors I would consider are:
    • When was it serviced last & who did it?
    • Has anything been replaced on the watch (IE back dial)

Just my newb 2 cents. I own a manual SeaMaster cosmic from 68, so this is somewhat close.

Looks like an early to mid 60's caliber 56x (probably 562) in decent shape. However, it might be missing the bezel. If so, pass on it.

Personally I'm a fan of stainless steel watches with gold dial furniture and this one looks nice. Dial is in very good shape, has original crown and case looks pretty good. I even like the inscription on the back, very nicely done! I'm not so sure it is missing the bezel, I have a Seamaster with a similar case and this might be fine. Having said that, better lit pictures would help determine the whole bezel conundrum. If this in fact has its bezel it is a good value.

EDIT: the only concern here is the lack of a movement picture...if one is available would love to see it.

    Just for comparison, bezel wise.

There's not a whole lot more to say...If I were you I'd ask for a movement shot, a better picture of the bezel area and if that all looked good pull the trigger, other wise continue the search.

Nice dial but over polished case, far too expensive for what it is!

These vintage watches are all about condition, a really nice one might fetch that. And on ebay they can ask whatever they want, it doesn't mean they will get it. With ebay its important to look at the watches that have sold, for gauging prices. Its also important to keep in mind that there are a lot of uneducated buyers on ebay paying far too much for poor examples of vintage watches...with a keen eye you can come across very good deals.

In fact $800 got me this...

You're not wrong there, we get to see it on a month by month basis every time a cool 321 Speedmaster or Constellation Deluxe comes along.
