    Hello everyone

First time poster; I'm hoping that someone could offer a little advice.

I have an Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra (James Bond edition!), and have had it for 11 years since new. It was an 18th birthday present from my mum. Recently it stopped working and I took it back to the independent (non-omega) watch specialist who said there was moisture inside and the battery connector was corroded. I had used the watch in the shower etc for years, but maybe after the last battery change the seal failed and let in some moisture.

The quote, after being inspected, is £220 for service, new circuit, and coil. Or £290 for a new movement. The person that does the repairs apparently used to work for Omega so is used to working with these watches and doing repairs. The repairs will have a warranty, but I'm not sure how long.

Does anyone have any thoughts as to which would be the better option? I wouldn't ever sell the watch due to being a gift, so resale value isn't a major issue. Would a new movement be as good a quality as the old, or would a major repair like that make it more prone to fail in the future?

    Thanks for any advice
    Cameron

If moisture got in then there may be other damage too. A new movement is probably the safest option.
