I’ve never heard of it being done on an Omega thus far.
I know there are shops around that do hardened chrome and tungsten plating, there are dozens near me as in Australia we have a massive mining industry and hydraulic rods are a wear and tear item that periodically need to be cleaned up and re-chromed. That involves removing the old layer and replating with hardened chrome to a high degree of precision.
I’ve often wondered if it would be possible to find one of those shops run by a bloke who was into watches to give it a crack, you’d need to get a watchmaker to take the watch apart first and just give them the case along with some careful instructions but I think that would be the closest you could get to an original looking finish again on one of these.
But yea it’s definitely not easy or straight forward and requires both a watchmaker and an industrial engineering / machinist shop.
