A friend of mine watch (a gold capped one)

As I said it many times on this thread already, I had never seen that one before.

@river9, it’s my first time seeing this pattern.

From only one picture, I am not sure about the “S” in seamaster word, also the “D” and “E” in Deville.

Need more better pics.

Who would bother redialing this?

Yea it definitely looks like something Norman Morris would do, the text looks weird but its possible the background pattern is causing a weird moiré effect as the text interferes with the pattern, would definitely like to see better pics. It would be very odd if some random redialer did put his mother’s kitchen tile floor on a dial as a background independently.

I believe that both versions could be the correct examples of the “Seamaster DE VILLE”.
(the first example is the one in my collection)

I believe the first one is from the end of the year 1962 an the other one is more "recent".

Dealing with mixed feelings, on one hand there's 100+ unique and colourful dials

On the other hand, the case is hard to work with, not the case but mainly the stem structure I find scary and hate when the stem is pulled instead of sliding out

Also there's a form of reverse gambler's fallacy for me, after letting go off so many unique SMDV's, I feel like I can no longer turn back and become a collector, the resentment would be huge

But one thing is for certain, SMDV is #1 in terms of collectability, across all watch models

I know for sure I won't sell mine.

I currently have this Seamaster 14761 with a curtain dial at the spa for restoration. It will be on a 1036 beads of rice bracelet after it comes home.

You posted a picture of this one on the "Arrivals" thread a few months ago if I remember correctly. Wonderful. My ribbon dialed LL 6590-1 is also ongoing service and I have to say I miss her a little bit. 😀

Thanks. It also has the “coffin” style hour markers which are quite unusual.

Yes, truly beautiful. 1961?
