·Unfortunately I need to raise some funds so this very nice Seamaster 300 165024 is up for sale. I think I'll describe the parts separately but please view the photos as the best description and ask any questions you might have.
Dial - a stand out feature of the watch. Super clean, no damage that I can see and with original lume that has turned a very pleasing creamy/yellow.
Hands - original hands. Note that they have been relumed.
Bezel - beautiful 'flat top 1' 'C-type' bezel that has aged very nicely. Note ding at the 40 marker but otherwise in superb condition with no splits or cracks or other damage, just very light marks that can only be seen close up. This is the correct bezel type for this age/serial number 300.
Case - another stand out feature of the watch. In my opinion it is unpolished and sharp. My opinion is based on nearly 20 years of handling dozens of 300's, both good and bad; the particular brushed finish; the shape of the lugs; the fact that any marks/dings are on top of the finish and no marks are seen with brushing on top of them among other things.
The watch has been used so the case does have marks from use (remember it hasn't been polished up), nothing unusual, the most significant mark is a small ding on the lower left lug on the edge between the polished and brushed edges. The case back displays a nice clear hippocampus and is in good condition with some tool marks and, I only just noticed while looking at it now with a loupe, a tiny set of numbers engraved neatly on one edge, very hard to see and not sure what they are for. Interior correctly stamped 165 024 and with HF case makers mark.
Crown - Service replacement. Genuine Omega.
Movement - Very clean and good condition cal.552 has been expertly serviced about a year ago and currently keeping good time. Serial No. 24.222.*** dating it to 1966/67.
Strap - genuine Tropic NOS vintage waterproof rubber strap.
So in conclusion, a well looked after 300 diving watch with extremely attractive dial, bezel and case. If I've forgotten to add something please PM me.
I'm finding it quite hard to put a price on it as there are not many nice ones for sale and the few attractive examples out there are at extremely high prices. I don't need to be greedy so am pricing it at what I think is a very reasonable £5,500 GBP NET to me. Postage in UK £15 and worldwide £25. Would rather not accept a return on this one unless grossly misrepresented.
All the photos have been taken in direct sunlight and have not been altered in any way.
