·Hi all,
Time for this one to leave. I bought it from Neil (flame) a while ago but, as with many of us at some time, I am currently restructuring and rationalizing 😉 so time for this to go to a new home.
Not much to say about the model, I presume, as it is arguably THE Seamaster diver icon. The problem many people have suffered from is that this is also one of the most faked watches out there. You can find numerous threads on this and other sites where "questionable" examples are examined by collectors.
This one is the real thing. Issued in 1967, as shown in the Extract from the Archives included in the sale, this is an unpolished original example. It shows a lovely patina which is not water-induced as with so many. The dial is in very good/excellent condition and the bezel shows the usual knocks but nothing major. The case has no major dings and any scratches could be buffed out (but I would leave this as it is!) The 552 movement is running strong and keeping great time. It sports the original crown (non-screw) and the tell-tale holes at 12 and 6 are clearly visible. It comes with a NOS Tropic Sport.
If you need any further info, let me know.
I'm looking for €2250 net to me.
Thanks
Roger
