Hello all. I received the seamaster 30 in dads estate. I am not a watch person and was very surprised at what this could be worth.
not sure if i am comfortable taking the back off. is it clockwise or counter clock wise.
Located in saskatoon sk canada

I see some that are close to 1500 cdn. I see lots of pics of the inside so assumed people interested want to see inside. Has cracked glass but otherwise to me looks good. Have to sell for the estate so trying to get a fair value.

Regarding opening the back, it’s “lefty loose-y and righty tight-y”. But I would only let a watchmaker do it. There is a good chance that the rubber O-ring inside has turned to liquid goop and you might end up with a mess on your hands.

The bracelet is not made by Omega and has little value. The crown is missing its plating and needs to be replaced. The crystal also needs to be replaced.

The movement is likely a cal. 268 or 269, which is one of Omega’s better manual movements, but it likely to require servicing after all these years of not being used. Dial is nice and original.

Someone is going to need to invest $500 or so to get it restored properly. I can see $300 to $400 (US) for this in current condition, but not more.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

I took the watch in to have the back removed for pictures. this is a 125-003-62 269 movement.
just an update. you educated guess was correct. thank you

125.003-62 is the 'model' number, though there were plenty of configurations for these. 'gold' plated/filled/etc examples tend to sell for less than stainless models.

They seem to have sold for $425, $499.99, and < $427.50 (accepted offer).

Cheaper ones both have worse dials, and the middle $499 one is in nicer condition. So I'd put the value of this mid-$400s or so based on comps.

FINDING someone willing to PAY that much is the trick of course, you might end up holding this for a while trying to find someone willing to pay more than gator's estimate.
