Hi, I would like to ask you if this Omega ref. 2657-1 is totally ok. The case size is 36 mm and I think crystal and crown aren't original. No "SWISS MADE" under 6 and some crunch on the ring outside the movement (?) What do you think? Thank you.
The crown is not right, the case is polished. The dial is aged - might not be unattractive when seen is the flesh (is it two-tone?). This reference is a jumbo and will wear large - almost modern in size. I would happily wear it provided the moment checked out as robust enough. Not sure how much I'd pay for it given the issues. Replacement crown should be freely available from Omega. This reference is rare - these are hard to come by these days. P.S. I would go for this crown, as per my example:
Yes, it is two tone dial. Is it normal that it has not SWISS MADE under six? And yes, it has been heavily polished. Could I do a better work about sides? Thank you for the suggestion about the crown.
That rehaut is pretty tight in there against those hour markers. I wonder if there's a Swiss Made hiding under an incorrect crystal/retaining ring?
What type of crystal would I look for? I should remove the incorrect crystal, but seems no writing is there... They ask me 400€ in this conditions.
Seems it's still available - PZ5005. Available at both Ofrei in US and Cousins UK (£26.96 + VAT for the latter). I'd wait to see what others have to say, but at €400, plus the price of the crystal and crown, I'd consider it.
Not worth the money, IMO. Dial is likely original, but in very poor condition. Movement is like the "coat of many colors". Better to pay more and get more. gatorcpa
I should change crystal and crown, polish better the case, wash the movement. So, I would have a good piece? It's not so easy to find a 36mm bumper Seamaster , because I see only too small 34mm ...
I wouldn't say that it is rare - I have had three and I am by no means a big collector. I have seen at least 3-4 others for sale the last year and a half and I haven't been actively looking... €400 for this might not be too far off (I'm willing to bet it would make at least that on eBay), but given the condition, it's not really a collector's piece.
Perhaps I will go ahead. Otherwise it is not so easy to find this reference in the shop near home. Thank you .
By the way, I just realised that the markers are rose gold while the hands are yellow gold... Odd, I think.
I am not really sure. The seconds hand overlap the seconds track which it shouldn't and the triangle lume cut-out in the hour hand seems off. I would have expected either a strip of lume or a larger triangle.
