This is my latest purchase. A 176.007 with an A1 OSA dial according to Andy K’s awesome website. I took a punt on it as I thought under the scratched crystal was a great dial and it seemed quite original and not messed with. Got it for a great price due to its unloved condition.

I also enjoyed the interaction with the seller who when I asked about its history offered to do a youtube video. I love a watch/car etc. with history.
His grandfather bought it for his great-uncle’s 50thbirthday in 1976 at a jewellers called Mann’s Jewellers in Rochester NY. Apparently they were choosing between this watch and a Rolex Daytona. We all know one has appreciated a lot more! His great-uncle was a private pilot and a chronograph was useful obviously. Great-uncle passed away in 1988, watch went to his dad who wore it for a bit, and then like many went into the sock drawer.

It hasn’t been used for decades and I would image is all gummed up so it will be off to get a proper service. Pushers are stuck etc but looks pretty clean on the inside. Gave it a quick hit of polywatch and wow does that stuff work well!

Thanks, I wasn’t actually looking for one of these but I couldn’t pass it up. I like the look and the feel of it. It’s a nice size and weight for me. I’m hoping to send it to one of the top guys here in Australia to get some love if I can.

Congrats! Wonderful watch and what a difference, just by polishing the crystal 👍.

Look at that - definitely worthy of a good service and some wrist time afterwards. Congrats! 😀

Oh Baby that watch is killer on it's original bracelet 👍

Yes its super comfortable to wear with that nice weighty feel. I made the mistake of looking in the end links. Comes with free decades of wrist cheese too...

nice catch. These are awesome. Mine says hi!
My understanding is that servicing these is not for the faint of heart. If you ever need a recommendartion on where to get it serviced, let me know.

Thanks Joe, yours is a beauty. As for where to get it serviced, my first preference is to use Adam Lewis. I only ever hear good things. Always keen to hear other options though. I just need to rattle the coinjar first!

So just confirming, crown and pushers are original yes? The bracelet and 120 end links are original for an American delivered watch I have read.

I thought the Seamaster was a good pick out of the watch box to wear down to my Uncle’s place at Cape Bridgewater. I remember when he bought it in the 80’s for next to nothing. 176 acres and a mile of beach frontage. The beach shot is in front of his house and the other shot is from the end of his property looking south.

Cape Bridgewater.
I remember standing on the edge of the cliffs at Cape Duquesne after walking from Nelson. The wind, the smell and the sound of the Southern Ocean crashing into Australia below me was a memory I'll never forget. When we got around to Cape Bridgewater the wind had changed and it was nowhere near as wild as Duquesne was, still a beautiful part of Victoria though.

We'll be down there again soo to finish the stretch in the opposite direction, from Port Fairy to Portland.

Yes it was blowing a gale when we went to Cape Duquesne. Got a bit too much sand and dust in my eyes. Spectacular though.

Congrats on your newly found love. It's the first automatic chronograph of omega in the early 70's, still a lemania base mechanism cal-1040, when the race among the big brands to become the first watchco to produce an automatic chronograph was so hotly contested. Another fame brand though got the trophy, but this seamaster chronograph is iconic, aside from the rare OSA dial. happy to share my osa too

Stunning photographs, thank you for sharing. Mine says hi. Waiting in the drawer for a (very expensive) upcoming service.
